This is the holy grail of the Texas Panhandle. This place is rich with Comanche and Comanchero history. It is thought that Cynthia Parker was here for a short time while she was with the Comanches. There are numerous slot canyons, narrows, and waterfalls in this area. We were able to explore this area a few years ago and take in the amazing sights. The Los Lingos Narrows is, by far, the most amazing slot canyon in Texas. This is on private property.
This was the first Texas panhandle slot canyon I was able to find. This one is located just outside of the boundaries of Palo Duro Canyon State Park, on private property. This is one of the smoothest serpentine-shaped slot canyons in Texas.
Over the years, we have found a handful of slot canyons with sandstone arches within them. This is a smaller slot canyon but still really beautiful. This is located on private property well outside of the Palo Duro Canyon State Park area.
Here is a video of different slot canyons, narrows, and Lingos Falls, from the air. Once again, keep in mind this is private property.
Here is the video from when several of us and our families met up to hike to the South Prong Slots, not too far from Caprock Canyons State Park.
On another hike with the Renegade Hikers, I explored the Central Utah Slots again and make a quick stop in Boulder Slot. Once again, these slots are all located in the Palo Duro Canyon backcountry.
This video is from my first trip to Boulder Slot, located deep in the Palo Duro Canyon backcountry. This is a really cool slot.
This slot canyon contains one of the biggest arches found in the Texas panhandle. Many years ago, the Caprock Canyoneer was hiking at Pole Canyon and came across this amazing find. Here is the video from our trip to check this out, with many of the Renegade hikers.
Here is a video from when I hiked with some of the Renegade Hikers from the Texas Panhandle. These are a pair of amazing slot canyons on private property near Silverton.
This is one of my favorite slot canyons in Texas. This is the deepest slot we have found thus yet, and it was a complete accident that we stumbled upon it. It is absolutely well-hidden in the Palo Duro Canyon backcountry.
These are a couple of the smaller, more-shallow slot canyons that are located in the Palo Duro Canyon backcountry. While somewhat shallow, these are still cool to visit.
Here is the video from when I took the boys to check out Caprock Canyon State Park's Fern Cave Slot. We found a way into the slot without using ropes. Tread carefully with this one, if you decide to hike to it.
This slot canyon is located within the boundaries of Caprock Canyons State Park, directly above the Fern Cave. It is somewhat difficult to get into, as you will see in this video that we use ropes to access the slot. This is a really long slot canyon with some smooth areas. If you make the trek to this area after a big rain, you can witness water pouring out of the canyon and infront of Fern Cave.
Located deep in the Palo Duro Canyon backcountry, this series of slot canyons are an absolute treasure. There are three different sections, all of them being deep with very smooth sandstone walls. This video is from my very first hike to the slots, years ago.
This is a conglomeration of my favorite Texas slot canyons, ranked. Note - We have visited more but this video is as of 2020.
After the Battle of Palo Duro Canyon, Ranald Mackenzie marched his troops and the horses, they stole from the tribes, through a portion of this canyon. This is an aerial view of the enormous sandstone cliffs of Tule Canyon.
This is a shallow slot canyon with some seriously cool striations. It was well worth the hike to visit it. It is located deep in the PDC backcountry.
Located way off of the beaten path and on private property in Palo Duro Canyon, this narrows is a really cool place to visit. I saw evidence of Mountain Lion presence during this trip.
This set of narrows is the biggest of its kind in the Texas panhandle. Located on private property in Palo Duro Canyon, this is an amazing sight. These narrows aren't too far from the Cita Arch Slot.
Here is one of my first backcountry hikes, where i stumbled upon an awesome narrows deep in the Palo Duro backcountry. I didn't know it at the time but this is located on private property.
